We migrated a 300+ page tired corporate WordPress site for LCEC into a new refreshed design and navigational structure while platforming them into a WP-engine environment that provided higher user engagement and quicker content updates.

Client Situation

LCEC had a very old WordPress site created with a custom theme. Over time, updating and maintaining the site has been time-consuming. With the approval for a refresh of the website they also wanted to review 3rd party WordPress hosted solutions but needed to maintain the same level of security and uptime they currently have within their environment.

The Challenge

Improve website design and customer navigation journey

There were several goals and challenges for this project. The site was living inside of a 10+ year installation of WordPress with over 300 pages of content.

LCEC wanted to rethink their entire navigation path to better support their customers search requests with the fewest clicks possible. This also required realigning hundreds of pages into new content silos.

Finally, they wanted to move their lcec.net WordPress site from within their data center to a world class hosting provider that would provide the highest level of support change management and security.

The Outcome

Customer centric navigation and new world-class hosting provider

We used tools like Google Search Console and Google Analytics to help identify the pages most used within the site. We reimagined the navigation to allow their customers to get to the content they were most interested in.

This change consisted of a detailed 301 worksheet for all of the navigation and page alignment changes. Every page and blog post was mapped to a new URL that was uploaded to the hosting provider.

An extensive 2-month review and interview of the top WordPress hosting providers to include WordPress was done. In the end, WP-Engine was chosen due to its extensive security architecture, network and support.
