IPG Microsite Case Study

In the process of planning and developing their new site, IPG identified the need to give their Geomembrane business unit a prominent new web presence in a more immediate timeframe. MethodFactory expedited the creation of a microsite that houses IPG’s Geomembrane products in a modern and user-friendly presentation, targeting the six specific industries that use the product.

Client Background

Intertape Polymer Group (IPG) is a recognized leader in the development and manufacture of specialized polyolefin plastic and paper based packaging products and complementary packaging systems for industrial and retail use.  Headquartered in Montreal, Quebec and Sarasota/Bradenton, Florida, the Company employs approximately 2,100 employees with operations in 17 locations, including 13 manufacturing facilities in North America and one in Europe.

Business Challenge

IPG’s current website is several years old and is scheduled for a re-design on a modern web content management (WCM) system. The re-design will bring it up-to-date with the best of breed online functionality, like enterprise search, content targeting, responsive design, persona management, etc.

In the process of planning and developing the new site, IPG identified the need to give their Geomembrane business unit a prominent new web presence in a more immediate timeframe; a microsite that would house IPG’s Geomembrane products in a modern and user-friendly presentation and target the specific industries that use the product: Oil & Gas, Mining, Infrastructure, Water Management, Aquaculture, and Coal/Ash Remediation.

IPG required a site built with dynamic, responsive templates so that the product line would display appropriately on desktop, tablet, and smart phone devices; adapting to the needs of any visitor entry point.

The microsite also needed to be designed in such a way that it could seamlessly be rolled over into the new, larger site once it was complete and so the microsite efforts and characteristics could be leveraged.


MethodFactory was able to respond to IPG’s immediate need by designing a “quick to market” microsite for IPG’s Geomembrane business unit.

MethodFactory developed a responsive, template-based microsite with the full site in mind so that they will seamlessly integrate into the new site when ready, with no need to re-do the Geomembrane section.

During the planning phase, MethodFactory helped guide IPG in deciding what template structure to use, and the kind of modules that would meet IPG’s unique requirements.  The modules include a customized hero slider – a dynamic content zone that embeds rich images as well as video that can easily be changed out by IPG’s content managers and product presentation and management modules, which are driven by a Sitefinity 6.0.

The content was structured to target the six specific markets and written to support SEO. All of the microsite modules unique to IPG, including the hero sliders and product presentation modules can be leveraged in the bigger site that is coming.

MethodFactory quickly launched the Geomembrane microsite, meeting IPG’s interim need while the new website is being built. Once the new, comprehensive IPG site is complete, the microsite will be integrated into the overall site.
