Kingspan Insulated Panels is a division of Kingspan Group PLC, a global provider of sustainable construction products for residential, commercial and manufacturing buildings. Part of Kingspan’s business model is to provide economical solutions that will reduce negative environmental impacts. Kingspan has become the first in the world to develop the Zero Carbon home, which meets the 2016 standards as outlined in the Code for Sustainable Homes. Kingspan continues to innovate and deliver solutions today that will dramatically reduce the need for energy tomorrow.
Business Challenge
Kingspan Insulated Panels’ previous website was developed in 2001 by another firm and though it had a small content management system, they found that they couldn’t really use it; it was cumbersome and difficult to manage. They needed a CMS that was comprehensible and flexible enough to grow with their needs. The overall site itself was outdated and needed updated visuals to match their re-branding, a re-organization of content, as well as new site search functionality for products and a place for a variety technical data.
Solution
MethodFactory met with Kingspan Insulated Panels to define their website and Web application goals; they detailed out the page structure and determined custom functionality. MethodFactory implemented a CMS called SiteFinity™ and built three custom modules to integrate with it: One for technical product data, including product bulletins, CAD drawings, specs, and other technical product details; another, an advanced site search with multiple sorting capabilities for Kingspan customers to look up products, where to buy them, and other distributor information; the third, a custom media gallery, which ties images to their product categories and industries. Now Kingspan has a CMS that they can grow with and a way to house all of the data they want while remaining adaptable to any changes to their content. MethodFactory is also providing ongoing application support.
